Ingredients
 
1  1/2 kilos beef (shoulder part), cut in cubes (2 square inches)
1 large onion  cut up in small pieces
2-3 cloves garlic
1/2 cup olive oil
400 grams crushed tomato
1/2 cup tomato juice
5  to 6 allspice berries
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon of salt, pepper, and sugar
2 glasses of water
 

Method

Braise the onion and garlic in a large pot with the olive oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add the cubed meat and continue to braise the ingredients for about 5 more minutes. Stir constantly. Add the rest of the ingredients and cover the pot. Simmer over low heat for about 2 hours, until the meat is tender.
 
Serve with spaghetti, rice, French fries or mashed potatoes.
